Sideswipe celebrates 1st anniversary with big beers & expanded taproom hours

If you frequent the beer aisles of local stores like I do, you are bound to encounter the colorful bottles from Sideswipe Brewing on an increasingly frequent basis.  It’s been a phenomenal first year for owner, head brewer, bartender, hop cultivator, and martial arts guru Craig O’Herron. This coming Saturday, January 24, Sideswipe is throwing a party at the brewery/taproom (2419 Scioto Harper Drive) from 2-8 pm to celebrate their first anniversary.  As Craig puts it, “We see this anniversary party as a way to celebrate our explosive growth over the last year and say ‘thanks’ to our loyal and passionate customers.”

The event will include swag giveaways, an on-site food truck, and guided brewery tours (although at Sideswipe every visit to the restroom comes with an unguided brewery tour). Nine Sideswipe Brewing beers will be available on tap at the event — the most ever at one time — including three special releases, each offering a twist on one of Sideswipe Brewing’s flagship beers: a bourbon barrel aged smoked stout; a super hopped IPA; and a cherry saison.

Sideswipe also announced that they will be expanding taproom hours to three days a week starting on Jan. 29. The taproom, which is currently is only open on Thursdays, will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and 5 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Quoting O’Herron once again:

“We’re thrilled to expand our taproom hours and welcome more people into our humble little home. 2015 is shaping up to be an even bigger year for Sideswipe Brewing and we have plans to increase our production and offer a whole range of new beers.”

In case anyone out there is unfamiliar with the beers of Sideswipe I encourage you to take this opportunity to familiarize yourself with their tasty, hand crafted beers. I’ve extolled the virtues of several Sideswipe beers on the pages of this blog over the past year and you can bring yourself up to speed by checking out reviews of Elegant Hoodlum Smoked Stout, Pixelated Sun Hoppy Wheat, Squashing Pumpkins, and Coop Looter Saison which made the list of my top ten Central Ohio beers of 2014.
