Zaftig Bottle Release/Ugly Sweater Party

As many of you already know Zaftig is holding their annual Ugly Sweater  Christmas party tomorrow (Saturday, 12/12/15) from 12-6 pm.  In conjunction they will releasing two high abv brews that have been patiently aging in a barrel for most of 2015:

Bourbon Barrel Aged BamBaLam – BamBaLam is Zaftig’s Imperial Stout aged with chocolate and coffee.  This version, which comes in a 12-ounce bottle, was aged in Middle West Spirits OYO bourbon barrels for nine months. The bottles are selling for $10 a piece, with a limit of four per customer.

Oops Wee Sour  Not many details have been released on this beer, other than it is a barrel aged sour, and knowing Zaftig it’s bound to be a double digit abv beer.  However, Rick Armon referred to this beer as Oops Wee Sour earlier this week. Reading between the lines my guess is that whilst aging their delicious Wee Heavy in a Watershed Bourbon barrel some accidental souring resulted.  I don’t know that for a fact though, and we all know that some of the best innovations were discovered unintentionally.  A 12-ounce bottle will go for $8, with a limit of two per customer.

In addition to the bottle releases there are bound to be a variety of tasty high gravity beers pouring. The Pitabilities food truck will be on hand, because you know you’re going to need some flat bread in your stomach to soak up the high octane offerings that Zaftig will be pouring.

It’s also the last big shindig in the cozy confines of Zaftig’s Schrock Road location.  In early 2016 they will be moving to a much larger location (7020 Huntley Road) about a half mile directly toward the Budweiser plant as the crow flies.  Fortunately the forecast is for temperatures in the mid-60s, so no reason to worry when the party spills out into the parking lot.
