In the second installment of the Pat’s Pints podcast we talk branding, design, and labeling with Walt Keys, creative director and co-owner of Land Grant Brewing. We talk about how a beer goes from an idea to the finished, packaged product; get Walt’s take on rebranding campaigns at Great Lakes, Troegs and New Belgium (see images below); take a closer look at Land Grant’s Beard Crumbs Oatmeal Raisin Stout; sample new and aged versions of Great Lakes Blackout Stout. We finish with our top five lists of Ohio breweries who excel at branding.
One of us (Pat) had the not so bright idea to drink four additional Imperial Stouts (Oatmeal Raisin Yeti, Boris the Crusher, Vanilla and Coffee Bean Dark Apparition, and Bourbon Barrel Oubliette), and while all of the tasting and most of the inebriated rambling has been edited out, the effects of the alcohol become harder to hide as the podcast progresses.
